Shocking pollutants in your home

Many think about the pollutants outside the home, but do you know there are pollutants in the home?  In addition to the tips below, you can go to the EPA website at http://www.epa.gov/iaq/lead.html to find out more.

1. Use cleaning products made from safe natural and not-toxic ingredients to prevent exposure to the hazardous synthetic chemicals conventional cleaners often contain.

2. Dust with a damp cloth to ensure that household dust, which can collect toxins, is removed from surfaces and not stirred back into the air.

3. Open windows and doors occasionally (even in winter!) to rinse out any air pollutants that have accumulated inside.

4. Spray carefully. Propellant-powered aerosol spray products release their ingredients in the form of easily-breathable microscopic droplets that stay suspended in the air for hours after use. Better bets are hand-powered spray products or those you can apply with a sponge or rag.

6. Use baking soda. Freshen everything from carpets and cat boxes to trash cans and drains with non-toxic baking soda. Just sprinkle, let stand overnight, and vacuum or rinse odors away the next day.

7. Warm water can be best. Synthetic chemicals and other pollutants often accumulate unseen on the surfaces you are cleaning. Since hot water easily turns many of these substances into vapor.

8. Use chlorine-free dishwasher detergent. The chlorine in conventional detergents is easily vaporized by hot dishwasher water and then released into your home’s air.

9. Ask guests to remove their shoes when entering your home. That way, they won’t track in pollutants.

10. Buy a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. These special filters trap unhealthy dust particles.

Simple steps are big improvements in one's health.

What you see is what you get

Dr. Brian Wansink has an article in the May 2011 issue of Nutrition Action titled "Under the Influence".

In the article Dr. Wansink speaks about his studies concerning various groups of people, who were given different sizes of food, at different locations and how they reacted to the food.

For example:
  • He gave moviegoers, who had just eaten dinner, either a big bag or a small bag of stale popcorn.  Those given the big bag ate 34% more.
  • He put clear glass dishes of candy either on  a secretaries desk or 6 feet away on a cabinet.  The secretaries consumed 125 more calories from candy when it was on their desk.
  • He did a study with 60 graduate students just before winter break.  He gave them a lecture on external eating cues in which he specifically told them that they would eat more from a big bowl of Chex Mix than from a small bowl.  After winter break he invited those same students to a Super Bowl party and divided them into two rooms and gave them either large or small bowls of Chex mix.  The ones given the large bowls ate 53% more!
So now you know that overeating is mindlessly dependant on external eating cues, AND that you can't avoid being influenced by those external clues even if you are intelligent and motivated.

So what can you do?  Is it possible to curb the cravings, overeating, and do it sensibly?  YES it is!  Call Mary Beth at Mama Bear Productions for your complimentary Personal Confidential Nutrition Consultation.  The consultations are available in person or on the phone.

Embrace each day versus just showing up.

Side Affects

Today I was able to sit and watch a romantic movie.  That was nice as usually I'm up and have a busy schedule.

Every time there was a commercial break, there were commercials about prescriptions. With all of the side affects, why would anyone want to take the prescription?  Some even said they may cause cancer or if someone had cancer they should not take this prescription.  The prescriptions I'm referring to are ones for psoriasis and eczema.  If you are not familiar with these diseases, they are skin disorders.

Our skin reflects what is going on inside our body.  When a person has psoriasis or eczema, it is due to a week immune system.  So how does one strengthen or get the immune system in balance?
  • Diet:  Eat organic fruits and vegetables.  When organic isn't available, use an organic cleaner to remove the pesticides off fruits/vegetables.
  • Limit fast food.  There are numerous preservatives in fast food.  The chemicals promote skin disorders.
  • Drink clean and pure water!!!  The appropriate amount for each individual is half their weight in ounces.
  • Exercise.  Getting the body going reduces fat, creates lean muscle mass, develops a positive frame of mind.
  • Finally supplements.  You know vitamins.  I say supplements because we can't get everything from our food.  And if you don't eat according to the food pyramid guide, then you are not getting enough minerals and vitamins.
  • Finally increase the production of Interferon in you immune system.  What is Interferon?  Click here.
How can you increase production of Interferon without chemicals and only side benefits?  Click here.

Forced into early retirement?

So the company you worked for is downsizing and getting rid of the top paid employees.  Does this sound like you?  Are you thinking "what will I do?"  Many find themselves in this same situation.  This same group is saying "no more JOB".  I want a business of my own that gives me time and freedom.

That is what Mama Bear Productions is.  I was part of the corporate world and they laid me off in 1998 after over 16 years with the company.  My children were 4 and 1 1/2 at the time so I was a stay at home mom.

It was a social shock at first, but then realized how much I loved being with my children and not having to be in rush hour traffic and someone telling me my schedule.  Sound like you?

Mama Bear Productions is expanding and looking for business partners.

Someone who is smart, passionate and committed.  Smart enough to know about the value of building an income producing asset, passionate about growing predictable passive income for now and the future and committed to living a life that supports your health and values every day of the week.  Do you know anyone like that?  If you do, contact Mary Beth Potrykus at marybeth@mamabearproductions.net.

Mama Bear Productions works with a group of  entrepreneurs, expanding internationally, working together with a professional business model to build income now and for the future.  We are looking for others just like us who want to do the same.

If you know someone or you are interested in finding out more, give me a call, Mary Beth at 810-813-3308.

It is a great time to explore.
